Nuvoton Technology Environmental Charity – Reviving the Verdant Forest in the Citrus Grove | News
In late November 2023, under clear skies and pleasant weather, 43 Nuvoton employees and their families gathered at the Hengshan Citrus Grove in Hsinchu County. In collaboration with the Wilderness Protection Association, Nuvoton Technology embarked on a mission to rescue the mountains and provide a breathing space for nature. Together, they cleared invasive plants and assisted in restoring native aquatic plants in the nearby ecosystem pool to enhance biodiversity and protect the environment.
The small-flowered wandering jew, originating from Central and South America, has no natural predators in Taiwan. It rapidly colonizes abandoned farmlands and low-altitude suburbs, resembling a rapidly spreading cancerous growth, earning it the nickname "green cancer." Due to its ability to spread through wind dispersal and reproduce asexually, mechanical means are ineffective in eradicating it, requiring a thorough removal to prevent regrowth. In this initiative, Nuvoton employees actively participated in the conservation effort, removing a total of 11 kilograms of the small-flowered wandering jew. This not only allowed the citrus trees to bask in sunlight once more but also educated participants about the harmful characteristics of the plant and the importance of prevention and removal.
Nuvoton showcased its commitment to positive impacts on local ecological environments and biodiversity during this event, contributing wholeheartedly to the cause of ecological protection. The company aims to embody the concept of "harmonious coexistence between humans and nature' through such initiatives."
