Butterfly Dance in the Forest - 2025 Exploration of the Great Purple Emperor Ecological Camping | News
Tribal Tours and In-depth Ecological Education
On July 5 and July 6, the "Butterfly Dance in the Forest - 2025 Exploration of the Great Purple Emperor Ecological Camping" camping activity, in cooperation with the Atayal indigenous peoples Qingquan Tribe, introduced tribal tours and in-depth ecological education, allowing 50 colleagues and their families to personally visit the butterfly habitat, observe the living conditions of indicator species such as the Great Purple Emperor, and further understand the importance of conservation. Facing the global ecological crisis and the pressure of species reduction, Nuvoton Technology actively invested in biodiversity conservation projects to practice SDGs 4 Quality Education, SDGs 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDGs 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDGs 15 Life on Land, and SDGs 17 Partnerships for the Goals, learning feasible environmental-friendly action guidelines, and jointly maintaining ecological balance. Combining local tribes, non-profit organizations, and corporate resources, they promoted sustainable community development and cultural exchange.
Social Participation in Outdoor Ecological Surveys
This ecological activity covered various aspects such as the maintenance of the Great Purple Emperor habitat environment, introduction of common habitat flora and fauna, restoration of host plants, and butterfly population monitoring, allowing participants to initially experience the ecological environment and culture of the indigenous area. The Great Purple Emperor is a native endangered protected butterfly species in Taiwan, highly sensitive to habitat conditions. The larvae rely on the leaves of the Chinese Hackberry for food and overwinter in leaf litter, making the population scarce due to dependence on specific microhabitats. In recent years, factors such as habitat fragmentation, climate change, and land use changes have threatened the survival of the Great Purple Emperor, posing severe challenges to population persistence. The Qingquan Tribe cultural tour introduced the historical background of the Xiakaruo National Trail, the early health center of the Taoshan Tribe, and the predecessor of Taoshan Elementary School, and introduced the Atayal and Saisiyat tribes' stone oath during the Japanese occupation. Then, they visited the Wufeng Township Indigenous Peoples Museum to gain an in-depth understanding of the Atayal and Saisiyat cultures and skills inheritance, with exhibition contents covering various aspects of life such as food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, and entertainment.
