Nuvoton Receives 1.5°C Label from CommonWealth Magazine's Corporate Decarbonization Thermometer, TRIPs | News
Nuvoton has received the 1.5°C Label from CommonWealth Magazine's Corporate Decarbonization Thermometer, TRIPs (Temperature Rising Index for Pathways). The assessment shows that Nuvoton's decarbonization pathway corresponds to a projected end-of-century temperature rise of 1.500°C, aligning with the 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement. Nuvoton also ranked joint fourth in the IC design industry, demonstrating the Company's tangible progress in climate governance and low-carbon transition.
The TRIPs platform was jointly developed by CommonWealth Magazine and Tunghai University. It evaluates companies' alignment with global temperature-control goals by assessing their historical decarbonization performance, future emissions reduction targets, and overall transition pathways.
Nuvoton has embedded climate risk management and net-zero targets into its business decision-making processes. Through institutionalized governance, cross-functional collaboration, and transparent information disclosure, the Company continues to strengthen the implementation of its decarbonization initiatives. Furthermore, Nuvoton's 2030 near-term emissions reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and the Company has also committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
In terms of concrete actions, Nuvoton has expanded its decarbonization efforts through the installation of F-gas abatement systems, the replacement of equipment with energy-efficient alternatives, the implementation of an AI-powered facilities management system, the adoption of renewable electricity, supplier decarbonization management, and low-power product design. In 2025, the Company's Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions decreased by 11% year over year, while Scope 3 emissions declined by 14%.
Looking ahead, Nuvoton will continue to deepen its climate actions, advance the development of green manufacturing processes and low-carbon products, and collaborate with supply chain partners to accelerate the broader industry’s low-carbon transition. Through concrete actions, Nuvoton will continue responding to global climate challenges while steadily advancing toward its corporate vision of “Be a hidden champion in providing sustainable semiconductors to enrich human life.”
