Nuvoton Technology has long been committed to advancing environmental sustainability within local communities. Following its collaboration with the Taiwan Fenghezi Association in 2025 to promote biodiversity-friendly agriculture and food and farming education, Nuvoton is once again partnering with the Taiwan Fenghezi Association and the Bat Association of Taiwan this year to launch the "Hearing the Wings of the Night: Ecological Survey of the Asian Parti-Colored Bat and Formosan Golden Bat in Donghaiku" project.

Through this initiative, Nuvoton is expanding its corporate sustainability efforts from biodiversity-friendly farming to biodiversity conservation, reinforcing its commitment to enabling business and nature to thrive together.

Building on previous collaboration in promoting ecological agriculture and community engagement in Donghaiku, Nuvoton has recognized the ecological significance of the corridor between the Fengshan River and Touqian River watersheds in Zhubei. The project will conduct scientific surveys of the Asian parti-colored bat (Vespertilio sinensis) and the Formosan golden bat (Myotis formosus flavus), both species of conservation concern in Taiwan.

Day-roost surveys, ultrasonic acoustic monitoring, and interviews with local residents will be conducted to collect information on bat activity and improve understanding of the species' distribution and habitat requirements. The survey area covers key components of the regional green network extending from Hsinchu High Speed Rail Station to the Touqian River watershed. The findings are expected to provide a scientific basis for future local conservation efforts.

Establishing a Biodiversity Baseline and Strengthening Ecological Resilience in Hsinchu

Bats are important ecological indicator species and natural pest controllers, playing a vital role in maintaining ecosystem balance. Using ultrasonic acoustic monitoring and transect surveys, the project will collect data on the habitat distribution and movement routes of the Asian parti-colored bat and Formosan golden bat. The resulting information will establish an important baseline for future habitat protection and biodiversity management.
