Waste Management
Nuvoton adheres to the "Safety, Health, and Environmental Policy" and the goal of "No Environmental damage," striving to minimize waste treatment and maximize resource recycling. Through source reduction and enhanced recycling and reuse, we aim to reduce the environmental burden of production while ensuring all management measures comply with regulatory requirements.
Management Strategies and Implementation
Source Reduction and Segregated Management
During IC design R&D and wafer foundry production processes, we promote initiatives such as extending material usage, optimizing processes, and recycling packaging materials. Continuous evaluation of waste recycling and reuse is conducted to reduce waste generation and increase resource recovery rates
Standardized Management Procedures
Following the Waste Management Procedures, we implement waste classification, collection, storage, reporting, contractor management, and resource recovery processes. Regular inspections are conducted to monitor process outputs, drive waste reduction improvements, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Legal Outsourcing and Audit Supervision
We engage government-approved vendors, verify the appropriateness of disposal methods before engagement, and complete on-site inspections. Subsequent audits and GPS tracking of transportation routes are performed regularly to ensure proper waste handling and fulfill our responsibility as the waste generator
2025 Waste Management Data
Improper Waste Disposal Incidents
In 2025, a total of 38 audits were conducted, with no cooperation termination due to regulatory violations or related issues, and there were no improper waste disposal incidents at Taiwan and Japan plants
% Decrease
The waste generation intensity at Nuvoton Taiwan was 0.083 kg per layer-mask, representing a 12% decrease from 2024
Nuvoton prioritizes reuse in its waste disposal policy, while non-reusable waste is treated through incineration, landfill, solidification, or other appropriate methods. In 2025, total waste generation reached 2,559 tons, including 715 tons from Nuvoton Taiwan and 1,844 tons from Nuvoton Japan. By waste type, general industrial waste, including recyclable waste and office-generated domestic waste, accounted for 2,111 tons (82%), while hazardous industrial waste accounted for 448 tons (18%). By disposal method, recycling accounted for 750 tons (29%), incineration for approximately 1,226 tons (48%), landfill for 19 tons (1%), and solidification and other treatments, including chemical treatment, for 563 tons (22%).

Waste Management Plan and Targets
Nuvoton continues to strengthen its waste management practices and has established four key waste management targets for 2026:
Hazardous Waste Recycling
- Nuvoton Taiwan: Hazardous waste recycling rate >95%
- Nuvoton Japan: Hazardous waste recycling rate >99.5%
Waste Recycling and Reuse
- Nuvoton Taiwan: Waste recycling and reuse rate >78%
- Nuvoton Japan: Waste recycling and reuse rate >99.5%
Landfill Reduction
- Nuvoton Taiwan: Landfill rate <5%
- Nuvoton Japan: Zero direct landfill
Waste Contractor On-site Audit
- 100% completion rate of planned periodic site inspections.
